The variety is a local landrace, historically originating from the vicinity of the city of Ampuis. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth and a late flowering type. The variety is self-fertile and possesses resistance to diseases.

Fruits ripen in mid-August, have a flattened shape and a straw-yellow color with a red blush. The fruit flesh is quite firm, melting, and fragrant. The variety is suitable for fresh consumption and processing, in particular for the preparation of jams and preserves.
