The variety is a traditional local ecotype from the hilly area of Imola. The tree is sensitive to spring frosts and does not tolerate areas with moisture stagnation. The fruits have a small size, velvety skin, and juicy flesh.
In a historical context, the variety ripened after the main local varieties. Studies classify it as a specimentolerant to the pathogen Monilinia laxa. Traditionally, the fruits were used fresh, as well as for processing into juices and jams.
