The trees are characterized by vigorous growth, forming a wide spreading crown with large flowers. The productivity of young trees is moderate, but it increases significantly with age.

The fruits have a heart shape and are red or dark red in color. The flesh is firm, juicy, and sweet, with a distinct aroma. The variety is known by many synonyms, including Bigarreau Jaboulay, Jaboulay, and Early Lyon's.
