The fruits of this variety are distinguished by their large size and characteristic heart shape. Upon full ripening, the skin acquires a dark red, almost black shade. The fruit flesh is firm, has a sweet taste, and is purple in color.
The variety is historic and has been traditionally grown in Europe. Historically used as a market variety, its high yield is noted. The variety belongs to the Bigarreau group, which unites sweet cherries with firm flesh.
