The tree is vigorous, reliable, and hardy. The fruit is large, round or slightly heart-shaped. Skin color varies from red-brown to almost black. The firm and juicy flesh has a sweet taste, sometimes with a slight bitterness.

The variety is late-maturing, ripening from early to mid-July. The fruit is characterized by high transportability and resistance to cracking during rainfall. It is used as a table cherry and for processing.

The variety is self-incompatible and requires pollinators such as Büttners Rote Knorpelkirsche, Hedelfinger Riesenkirsche, or Schneiders späte Knorpelkirsche. It is genetically classified by S-alleles as S1S3.
