The Gégé sweet cherry variety is characterized by very late flowering, which allows it to be used as a pollinator for other late-flowering varieties. The fruits have a very low cracking index, which is an important advantage in rainy climate conditions.

During genetic studies, the identity of the Gégé variety with the Belge and Ferrovia varieties was established. The variety is included in official lists for testing for distinctness, uniformity, and stability.
