The variety Areko was obtained by breeders as a result of crossing Kordia and Regina. The tree has medium vigor, forms a semi-upright or broadly spreading crown with good branching capacity, which allows it to be grown in a spindle shape.
The fruits are large, 28–30 mm, and heart-shaped. The color of the skin and flesh varies from dark red to black-red. The flesh is characterized by density, juiciness, and a fine-celled structure; the taste is aromatic with harmonious acidity.
The variety matures in the mid-late period between the varieties Kordia and Regina. The yield is high, and the fruits are distributed evenly throughout the tree. The variety has high resistance to cracking and is intended for commercial horticulture.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
Variety registered as early as 3 jurisdictions, data for which we do not publish: their registry licenses have not yet been verified. This section will be available upon verification.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
More 3 records protections in other jurisdictions are shown on the map above.
