The tree is medium-sized, forming a broadly rounded or spreading crown at maturity. The height of an adult plant varies from 3 to 10 meters depending on growing conditions and rootstock. The leaves are oval-shaped with doubly serrated margins, light green in color.

The fruits are large, weighing from 5 to 10 g, oblate or kidney-shaped with a clearly defined ventral suture. The skin is dark red, becoming almost black at full maturity. The flesh is dark red, firm or medium-firm, juicy, and sweet-and-sour.

Early-maturing variety, the harvest ripens in late May – early June. It possesses good winter hardiness, but is susceptible to fruit cracking after rain and requires prevention against moniliosis. It is predominantly self-incompatible; other varieties are necessary for pollination.
