The variety is very early, with fruits ripening in late April or early May. The tree is characterized by a semi-upright growth habit. The fruits are heart-shaped, with dark purple, almost black skin and purple soft juicy flesh with a freestone pit.

The variety is primarily used fresh. Bigarreau Jaboulay and Guigne Early Rivers are recommended as pollinators. The variety requires monitoring for susceptibility to blossom wilt, anthracnose, leaf spot, and black aphid.

In historical German classifications, the variety belongs to the Guigne group, which includes cherries with soft flesh. It has the synonyms Précoce du Luc, Précoce de Tarascon, and Précoce de Boulbon.
