The tree is noted for its very vigorous growth and forms a wide, spreading crown. The variety is late-maturing; fruits ripen from early to mid-July. The variety is self-sterile; for pollination, such varieties as Büttners Rote, Hedelfinger, Große Prinzessin, Kassins Frühe, Schneiders Späte Knorpelkirsche or Regina are recommended. Genetically, it is classified by incompatibility alleles S3S5.
The fruits are large, round or slightly heart-shaped, and the color at maturity varies from reddish-brown to almost black. The flesh is dark red, firm, juicy and sweet, with intense juice staining. The pit is small. The variety has good transportability, and the fruits are resistant to cracking during rain.
The plant is winter-hardy, reliable and undemanding, capable of producing stable yields even when exposed to late spring frosts. Due to its taste and commercial characteristics, the variety is used as a table fruit and is suitable for various types of processing, including canning.
