Fruits of this variety are characterized by a blunt-heart or round, slightly flattened shape and large size. Upon full maturity, the skin acquires a dark red-brown or nearly black color. The flesh is dense, firm-fleshed (knorpelig), dark red with a high sugar content; the pit is relatively small.
The tree of this mid-late variety matures in mid-July and prefers loose, deep, and fertile soils. It possesses relative winter hardiness and tolerates windy and mountainous terrain well, however, the fruits are prone to cracking. The variety is a dessert type, often used for the preservation of genetic diversity in old orchards and collections.
