Variety description

10 August 2026

The name Honigkirsche is trivial in nature and in German pomological literature is most often associated with the variety Dönissens gelbe Knorpelkirsche. The fruits of this variety have a yellow color, a heart-like shape and a weight of 4–5 g. The flesh is firm, juicy and very sweet, which provided the reason for using the name «honey cherry».

The fruits of this variety are prone to cracking and mechanical damage, however, their yellow coloration makes them less attractive to birds. The fruits are suitable both for fresh consumption and for various types of processing, including the preparation of compotes, jams and jellies.
