The variety represents a local genetic resource from the Sabina region in Italy. The tree is characterized by high vigor, and the fruit skin changes color from light to dark red upon ripening. The variety matures in the mid-season, approximately June 15.
Genetically, the variety is identified as self-incompatible with an S-allele set of S3S14. Pollinator trees with a different S-allele set are required for fruit set. The plant is used in local horticulture and preserved as an object of biodiversity.
