The variety has a long history in the Emilia region, where its mass cultivation began in the early 20th century. Trees of this variety have significant vigor, in the past reaching a height of over 15 meters, however, in modern conditions, their crowns are trained to maintain a more compact appearance.

The fruits are medium to small in size, have a spherical shape and a thin, shiny skin that turns almost black upon ripening. The flesh is dark red, juicy, sweet-tasting with slight acidity and a pronounced aroma. The cherry has a long pedicel.

Medium-ripening variety, the harvest of which takes place in the period from late May to late June depending on local conditions. The fruits are characterized by low resistance to mechanical damage during transport and are unsuitable for intensive commercial cultivation.

The produce of the variety is used for fresh consumption, as well as for making jams and compotes. Due to the high content of sugars and biologically active substances, the variety is valued in dietary and baby food.
