According to the official variety lists of Slovenia, the name Poznaja černaja is recognized as a synonym of the European cherry variety Germersdorfska, also known by the names Bigarreau noir Germersdorf and Grosse Germersdorfer.

The variety is of old German origin. The name characterizes it as a late-ripening variety with dark-colored fruits. In the documentation, it is classified as Prunus avium (L.) L.
