The Rube variety was used by German breeders for crossing with the Schneiders Spate Knorpelkirsche variety. The Regina variety was obtained as a result of this cross, and the Alma variety was obtained by crossing Rube with Allers Spate.

Detailed morphological and agronomic traits of the Rube variety are not described in publications, as it is not considered an object of independent commercial horticulture, but is mentioned in the context of the genealogy of other varieties or as an element of genetic resource collections.
