The variety is a regional population included in the Portuguese National Catalogue of Fruit Varieties. Cultivation is carried out in mountainous areas at altitudes from 450 to 800 meters, where climatic conditions provide the necessary chilling periods and protection from strong winds.

The fruits of this variety are the basis for products with the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) "Cereja da Cova da Beira". Harvesting of the variety, as with other regional varieties, takes place in the period from the beginning of May to the end of July.
