The variety is an old chance seedling known since 1850. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth and forms a broad crown of medium density. The variety is self-sterile and requires pollinator varieties that bloom at similar times.
The fruits have a broad heart shape and a weight of 8 to 12 g. The skin turns dark burgundy or black upon full ripening. The flesh is dark red, juicy, and sweet-tasting with a slight acidity. The variety is relatively resistant to fruit cracking during rainy weather and possesses good winter hardiness.
