The variety is a chance seedling discovered in the Württemberg Unterland region. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth at a young age, forming a wide pyramidal or rounded crown. The variety enters bearing early and produces abundant yields.

The fruits are large, almost spherical in shape, and acquire a dark red or black color upon full ripening. The flesh is firm, aromatic, and sweet-tasting with piquant notes. The fruits have good transportability and resistance to cracking during rain, however, they are sensitive to late spring frosts.

The variety ripens in the 4th – 5th cherry week. It is a cross-pollinating plant; suitable pollinators include the varieties Büttners Rote Knorpel, Schneiders Späte Knorpelkirsche, and Kordia.
