The Utah Giant tree has medium vigor and a semi-upright crown. The variety was obtained through selection from seeds of the Bing variety. For normal development and fruiting, the tree requires about 800 hours of winter rest at temperatures below 7°C; the variety is suitable for USDA hardiness zones 4–9.

Fruits have a kidney shape and bright dark red skin at maturity. The fruit flesh is firm, characterized by high quality and a sweet taste. The variety shows moderate resistance to X-disease, however, fruits are prone to cracking under adverse conditions.

The variety is self-sterile; for cross-pollination, the varieties Bing, Van, Rainier or Lambert are recommended. Maturity occurs in mid-season, approximately 14 days after the Burlat variety.
