The Edinburgh variety tree is medium-sized, in some cases vigorous, with a dense rounded, upright-spreading crown. A characteristic feature is leaves with a strongly corrugated, curled surface. The variety enters the fruiting period in the 4–5th year after planting.
Fruits are large, weighing 30–40 g, of round or wide-oval, asymmetrical shape. The firm elastic skin varies from light red to dark red in color and is covered with a thick waxy bloom. The flesh is yellowish-red, juicy, with a fibrous consistency.
The variety is self-fertile and belongs to the mid-season maturity group; the harvest is collected in the first half of September. The tree is relatively winter-hardy, shows resistance to moniliosis, and relative resistance to clasterosporiosis.
