The variety originated as a chance seedling in Germany and was first introduced in 1896. It belongs to the early varieties, with the fruit ripening period occurring in early August. The variety is traditional, well-adapted to a temperate climate, and suitable for cultivation in hilly and mountainous regions.
The fruits have an oval-elongated shape and are of medium size. The skin is colored dark purple, almost black-blue, with a light bloom. The yellow-green flesh is firm and juicy, characterized by a predominantly sour taste and weak aroma. The stone separates easily from the flesh. The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, canning, freezing, and baking.
