The variety was obtained as a result of crossing late-maturing parental peach forms, one of which has flesh that is clingstone to the pit. The seedling was selected in 1997, after which the variety was established for vegetative propagation by budding.
Data on the variety are included in official registers in both the USA and other countries, including Australia and South Africa, in the context of plant breeder's rights protection. The morphological characteristics of the variety were recorded within the framework of established variety testing procedures.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
