Cotogna di Gigi Tardiva is a local Italian variety formed as a result of folk selection in the Florence region. The variety belongs to the group of so-called "peach-quinces" (pesche cotogne), which are characterized by a dense, firm consistency of orange-yellow flesh.
Fruits of this variety are characterized by a late maturity group and a stone that separates poorly from the flesh, which corresponds to the percoche type of peach. The variety is an object of conservation of the region's agro-biological diversity and is historically valued for its suitability for processing.
