Prunus persica (L.) Batsch Peach · Fruit crops

Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety was introduced in Hungary from France under the name New July Elberta and received its current name from the location of the work at the Elvira major experimental station. Trees show medium vigor in the first years, becoming vigorous later. Leaves are large, dark green; flowers are bell-shaped, changing color from dark purple to pink during blooming.

Fruits ripen in mid-August and are medium to large in size. The variety is self-fertile and precocious. To achieve optimal marketable fruit size, fruit thinning is necessary. Trees are sensitive to chlorosis on calcareous soils and develop better on light, well-moistened sandy and loamy soils.
