The Maruja Tejar variety is a traditional local variety. It is included in the National Germplasm Collection in Zaragoza under number 5270.
During studies on resistance to brown rot, it was determined that the fruits of the variety possess specific skin characteristics, in particular, the cuticle density is twice the average, which affects susceptibility to pathogens.
This variety is considered an important genetic resource for breeding programs aimed at increasing resistance to stress factors, as well as for use in organic farming.
