The Matiss tree has medium vigor and a semi-open canopy. Flowering is late, occurring in early March; the variety is noted for good fruit set. Fruit ripening occurs in early July, approximately five days before the Luciana variety.
Fruits have a regular round shape and smooth, shiny dark red skin. The yellow flesh has high firmness, a slightly acidic taste, and a sugar content of 14–15° Brix. The fruit stone is resistant to splitting, and the fruits themselves hold on the tree for a long time.
