The rootstock was selected from seedlings imported from Japan. It is classified as a seedling rootstock, propagated by seeds rather than by clonal methods.
The plant possesses high vigor, yet exhibits susceptibility to soil-borne pathogens, in particular to the root-lesion nematode Pratylenchus penetrans. In comparative trials, trees grafted onto this rootstock demonstrated lower yields compared to other rootstocks in use.
