Variety description

10 August 2026

The MONPOL rootstock was developed from local plum tree populations common in the southeastern part of Spain. It is intended for grafting stone fruits, in particular peaches, and has undergone a series of studies on compatibility with almonds.

In terms of vigor and productivity, this rootstock is comparable to INRA-Saint Julian 655/2. A characteristic feature is a reduced ability to produce root suckers compared to a number of other popular rootstocks.

During testing, high susceptibility of MONPOL to infestation by the nematode Pratylenchus vulnus was identified. Under field conditions, cases of increased tree mortality on this rootstock compared to analogs, such as Adesoto, were also recorded.
