Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is considered a local Portuguese variety, formed as a result of folk selection and the crossing of local genotypes with European forms introduced in the XIX century. Currently, the variety is preserved in the national genetic collections of Portugal.

Scientific information about the variety is focused on molecular genetic identification using SSR-markers. Detailed agronomic descriptions, including fruit characteristics, tree height, or disease resistance, are not systematized in publications, although some sources mention a summer harvest period.
