The variety is an indigenous Sicilian landrace in the 'heirloom fruit' category. It is currently considered rare and endangered; historically, it was grown in home and family gardens.
The fruits are small and ripen in the second ten-day period of July. The main skin color is yellow, with a characteristic red blush on one side. The fruits are described as very aromatic and sweet, and they form in groups ('clusters') on the tree.
The variety is adapted to the local microclimatic conditions of Sicily and possesses a high degree of hardiness, characteristic of local historical varieties.
