The pear variety «Jumurda» was obtained as a result of a breeding program at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies Institute of Horticulture under the guidance of Jānis Walters. Detailed morphological characteristics and a description of the fruits are absent from open sources.
This variety is used in genetic research to assess the diversity of genotypes and is included in a testing system for viral infections using thermotherapy methods. The variety is considered a potential candidate for introduction into commercial horticulture.
