The variety is a historical cultivar that is presumably identical to the old French variety Junker Hans, known since 1675 under a multitude of synonyms, such as Messieur Jean, Meister Hans, and others. Final confirmation of identity requires additional comparative genetic studies.

Under Danish conditions, fruits of the variety ripen approximately by September 1st. Historical records on variety trials characterize this cultivar as abundantly fruiting. Today, the variety is primarily preserved in genetic resource collections and specialized gardens.
