The K 19 rootstock was selected by specialists at the Lithuanian Institute of Horticulture. It is a vegetatively propagated quince clone and is included in the National Plant Variety List of Lithuania as a rootstock for pear (Pyrus communis L.).

In scientific research, this clone has been used in experiments on genetic transformation, particularly to improve rooting ability, as insufficient root formation is a characteristic problem for many woody rootstocks.
