CH 201
ActivePyrus communis L. · European pear
EST. PRODUCTIVO DE DANILO CHRISTEN
10 August 2026
The variety originated at the end of the XVIII century in Piedmont as a chance seedling, presumably a hybrid of the Martin Sec pear and a wild form. The tree is characterized as vigorous and very fertile. The plant possesses high adaptability and significant resistance to scab.
The fruits are of medium size, have a pear shape, and thin, durable skin of a greenish-yellow color with red-orange spots or russeting. The flesh is compact, firm, slightly granular, aromatic, and has a sweet taste with a slight acidity.
The variety is considered a dual-purpose culinary cultivar and is ideal for cooking in wine, baking, creating syrups, and using in pastries. The fruits are consumed fresh, including as an ingredient in salads or with cheeses.
