The variety is a natural bud mutation of the Clapp's Favorite variety. Fruits ripen in August, approximately one to two weeks before the Bartlett variety. Depending on the rootstock, the tree reaches a height of 3 to 6 meters and forms a broad-pyramidal crown.
The fruits are medium to large in size and are distinguished by a bright red blush on the skin. The flesh is cream or white, juicy, tender, and sweet, with a delicate aroma. The variety is self-sterile and requires pollinator varieties that bloom during the same period.
The variety is of universal use; the fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, processing, and making desserts. Due to the early ripening period, the harvest is not intended for long-term storage. The plant is sensitive to fire blight.
