The pear variety Rousselet d'été brun-rouge, also known by the German synonym Braunrothe Sommerrusselet, has ancient German roots and was first recorded in 1804. The fruit has a regular blunt-conical shape with a flat top.
The fruit skin is smooth, transitioning from pale green to bright yellow-green. On the sunny side of the fruit, there is an extensive dull brown-red blush with pronounced yellow-grey dots that create a rough surface. The fruit flesh is yellowish-white and is characterized by a brittle consistency.
