The Ruzza variety is a local Italian landrace that originated as a seedling and was preserved through the efforts of local farmers. The variety received its name due to the characteristic rust covering the skin of the fruits.
The fruits belong to the winter category; harvesting is carried out at the end of October. They are distinguished by their small size, spherical shape, and aromatic flesh with a combination of sweetness and acidity. Fresh consumption is possible only after a softening process (ammezzimento) or after thermal processing.
The trees of the variety are notable for their longevity and can reach large sizes, as confirmed by the state of the preserved specimens.
