The classic variety Saint Rémy is a vigorous tree with a pyramidal crown, reaching 4–15 meters in height. The fruits are large, round-turbinate or conical, yellow-green in color with a possible red blush. The variety is late-maturing; fruits are harvested in October and can be stored until March. The variety is self-sterile, possesses high winter hardiness and disease resistance. The primary use is culinary: during cooking, the flesh acquires a pink-red color.
The columnar pear Sanremi, common on the modern market, is distinguished by its compactness and reaches a height of 1.8–2 meters. The fruits are large, weighing up to 400–550 g, yellow-green in color, and characterized by sweet and buttery flesh. The variety belongs to the autumn group, ripening in September-October. Self-fertility, high winter hardiness down to -30°C, and resistance to the main diseases of the crop are claimed.
