The small-sized fruits have an onion-like or bergamot shape. The skin is thin and firm, colored green, which turns slightly yellowish upon ripening. On the sun-exposed side of the fruit, a brownish-red blush often appears over a layer of russeting.
The variety belongs to the summer maturity group. It is used for direct consumption, and the fruits are also used for drying and processing into fruit butter. The variety is known by a number of synonyms, including the names Solnohradka, Cibulka, Cikánka, Kysňačka, and Salzburger Birne.
