The variety has a number of synonyms, including Duchess Summer, Bartlett, and Williams' Bon Chretien. The trees are medium-sized, have a pyramidal crown, and are characterized by a rapid growth rate.

Harvest maturity of the fruits occurs at the end of summer or beginning of autumn. The pears weigh about 140–180 g and require caution during transport due to the tender consistency of the flesh. The variety is characterized by susceptibility to fire blight.

The fruits are versatile in use, suitable both for fresh consumption and for industrial processing and canning.
