The tree is vigorous with a wide crown, reaches 5–8 meters in height, and is often grown as a standard tree. The variety enters bearing early and produces regular yields. It is poorly compatible with quince rootstock and requires an intermediate graft. It possesses general resistance to diseases, however, it is sensitive to fruit rot from the inside.

Fruits ripen in the second half of October, have a short storage life until the end of November, and ripen poorly after harvest. The flesh is white, sweet, and contains stone cells. The skin is green with russeting; upon ripening, a brownish-red or pink blush appears on the sunny side.

It is used as a dessert variety, as well as in cooking for stewing or the production of pear wine. There is conflicting information regarding pollination: the variety may require the presence of pollinators such as Charneux or Clapp's Favourite.
