The China Rose variety is an heirloom variety intended for cultivation in the second half of summer and in autumn. The period from germination to technical maturity is 55 to 60 days. The plant is characterized by high frost resistance, but requires moderate temperatures and sufficient moisture to prevent the root crops from becoming coarse.
Morphologically, the variety is a large plant with long cylindrical root crops 15–20 cm long and about 5 cm in diameter. The skin is carmine-pink, the flesh is white and crispy, and the taste is mild with sweet notes. The variety requires a larger nutrition area compared to small-fruited European types of radish.
When used for microgreens, the variety is valued for the decorative appearance of its pink-red stems. This variety should be distinguished from other types of radish with pink coloration, which have a short ripening period and a rounded shape and belong to the classic European group Raphanus sativus var. sativus.
