Macrocarpum is defined as a variety of Ribes vulgare (Ribes vulgare var. macrocarpum Jancz.). This form served as a parental basis for the development of many modern large-fruited red currant varieties in Europe and America.
Plants of this variety are characterized by low-growing bushes and 3–5-lobed coarse leaves with a notch at the base. The flowers are saucer-shaped, large, with a characteristic ridge on the receptacle. The fruits are distinguished by their increased size and can reach 1.5 cm in diameter.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
