The variety, also known as «Heinemanns Rote Spätlese», is the result of a cross between «Rote Holländische» and «Andenken an Lorgus». The plant has vigorous growth and a slightly spreading bush habit, as well as high regenerative capacity.
Berry ripening occurs from mid-July to early August. The fruits are medium-sized, light red, have a firm consistency, and a tart taste that becomes sweeter as they ripen. The variety is characterized by high and regular yields.
The variety is winter-hardy and undemanding to soil conditions; it can be grown in both sunny areas and partial shade. It is self-fertile and is often used in the breeding of other currant varieties.
