The Jostine variety is the result of a complex crossbreeding of Ribes divaricatum forms, black currant, and gooseberry. The plant forms a spreading bush with thornless shoots. Compared to the classic Josta variety, this variety is described as more compact.
The medium-sized fruits are dark red or dark purple and have a tart taste with a hint of black currant. Ripening occurs from early July to August. To ensure consistently high yields, cross-pollination is recommended by planting near other bushes of Josta, currant, or gooseberry.
The variety has strong immunity and is resistant to powdery mildew, rust, and bud mite. The berries are suitable for making jams, jellies, juices, and compotes.
