The variety is early-ripening, with fruiting occurring from mid-July to the end of August. The plant's canes reach a height of 1–2 meters and have small thorns; the bush type is classified as erect or semi-erect.

The berries are suitable for fresh consumption and freezing. The variety is characterized as hardy, although its insufficient winter hardiness for northern regions has been historically noted.

This is a historical variety of American selection, known since the 19th century. In modern conditions, it is more often found in collections as a traditional variety that was previously widely used for commercial purposes for early berry supply to the market.
