The plant is vigorous, reaching a height of 1.5–2.5 m. The shoots have thorns; during growth, they change direction from vertical to semi-vertical or trailing, therefore the variety requires mandatory tying to a trellis. The plant is self-fertile.

The berries are large, rounded, turning bright red when ripe, and acquiring a dark red or purple shade when overripe. Fruiting is extended from mid-July to the end of August, occurring a week later than the Tayberry variety. The variety has frost resistance down to -20°C.
