Thornless Evergreen is the result of a natural mutation of the species Rubus laciniatus Willd. The plant forms vigorous trailing shoots from 2 to 6 meters in length, which require trellising. A characteristic feature is the deeply serrated leaves, which can remain green in winter, and the absence of thorns on the shoots.
The variety is classified as late-maturing: the fruiting period lasts from August to September. The berries are black, glossy, weighing from 3 to 8 g, and possess good transportability. Yield reaches 8–10 kg per bush. The plant is noted for high resistance to fungal diseases and frost resistance down to -30 °C.
The variety is versatile in use and is employed in landscape design for vertical gardening. If the roots are damaged, thorny suckers may develop, which are not characteristic of the varietal plant.
