The variety is a vigorous bush with very thorny shoots. It belongs to late-ripening varieties; the berry ripening period falls in August-September.
The berries are black, have a sweet taste, and exceed the Snyder variety in size. The variety was historically considered relatively winter-hardy, but its susceptibility to diseases was noted.
